Server was Nice, but not attentive!. Food wasn't bad. The Tiramisu was delightful, definitely one fo the best that I have ever had. But the service was horrible. The guy that was serving us was very nice, but he only came to our table twice. Once to take our order and second time to take the check. (And he had someone else gives us the check.) The bus boy didn't even refill out water. We had to ask many times for water. We had to ask for the check between two waiters. Just don't expect the service to be there.
best pesto i've ever tasted. everything about this dining experince was amazing. i got the pesto gnocci and was almost moved to tears, it was that good. the service was excellent, and the staff was very good about descriptions and reccomendations
Not worth going. There are too many good restaurants in this city to waste your time going here. Although their outside tables offer good people watching, I would suggest only ordering a glass of wine or coffee rather than an entire meal. My veggie pasta was extremely disappointing as I've had canned tomato sauces that contained more vegetables than my $13 lunchtime pasta dish did. To their credit, the bread was fresh and tasty.
Great food, great service. Walked by and was pulled in by the door guy. Hank, our waiter, was wonderful. I loved the gnocchi and italian wine selection! Plus, the interior is beautiful - especially the muraled ceiling. We'll definately be back!
Ladies Beware. My girlfriend and I were out for a girls night out when we passed this place. The maitr'de ran out to greet us and was somewhat charming so we let him seat us by the door. Then he wouldn't let up. He was at our table every moment and wouldn't give us a minutes peace even though we made it clear we weren't interested. He even had the nerve to ask us to come back after closing time. This guy was a total slimeball. We won't be back and I tell all my girlfriends to skip it as well.
Bad service, average food. There are so many good restaurants in this area...this is certainly not one of them. I should have known after the stale bread they brought to our table. Got the gnocci on the advice of the manager...was really pretty average. Could have gotten the same quality at an Olive Garden. Will not return.
Whatz up with da services?. we went on a friday night at around 7 and it wasn't that crowded yet, which was good. all the staff seemed pretty nice, except for one, and she happened to be our waitress. when she came over to take our orders, she had her body totally turned towards my boyfriend, and was only talking to him. hello, can you see someone else sitting across from him? anyway, i found that VERY RUDE of her. the food was blah, and oh, if you are a vegetarian, don't even bother stepping foot into this place. there was maybe one dish to choose from out of the whole 3 page menu. wine selection was again blah.
Walk towards the light. There is a significant population of people in San Francisco who see rudeness as a sign of sophistication. Hopefully this population will be enough to sustain Figaro in this not so booming economy. As you stop to peruse the menu outside the door beware of the very pushy owner / manager who will sling insults if you choose to keep walking. I would recommend the well lit Calzones next door for a pleasant wait staff and delicious pasta.
Great Food and Fun Atmosphere!!!. This was a great restaurant!!! The food was wonderful and the servers and staff were fun!!! All items ordered were very tasty. The pasta melted in your mouth!!! It was crowded and pretty loud but lively. The staff was very entertaining. :-) Parking wasn't great but that is all of North Beach. We only park a few blocks away in a garage. We enjoyed eating here and had a great time. We will be back for sure!!!
North Beach. Figaro has excellent appetizers - Carpaccio & Calamari, and Ossobuco and Mezzo pollo. The casual no hype dinning and reasonable prices have made it a repeatable dinning routine. The large fresco on the ceiling of Figaro captures its unique ambience. It is a wonderful Italian North Beach restaurant.
Best Pizza in North Beach!!!. I have lived in North Beach for 8 years and until this week I had never eaten at Figaro. I've been missing out on the best pizza in North Beach for the last 5 years! (Figaro has only been open for about that long) The atmosphere is the best! the servers are very similar to what you would find in New York or Italy. That can be a good thing for some and a bad thing for others. All I need to say is that we had two pizzas' a salad and two drinks (wine and beer) the bill was $34.00 I can see how the wait staff might ignore an obnoxious fat yuppie-chick once they've been lured in. It's only once you are in the restaurant that the waiter can tell what a jackneck you are.
