Cheap and Dirty. If you are looking for a cheap but dirty place to get a tan with terrible customer service, then this is the place for you. Today was my second visit to Darque Tan and my experience was very much like my first. First of all, I tried calling in the am to confirm that they were open. First the line was busy, then no one answered (there wasn't even an answering machine) so I gave up. When I arrived, there was no one at the front desk (which would explain why the phone kep on ringing). After 5 minutes someone showed up and escorted me to the Mystic Tan room. For the second week in a row, they were out of hair nets, so they offered me a foot net to cover my head! Room was disgustingly dirty, with a used towel on the floor. The guy who escorted me didn't even replace it, but handed me a towel the size of a dish cloth to use to wipe off my entire body after the tan. actually, come to think of it, he didn't get me the towel, i had to fetch it myself. After i disrobed, i went to lock the door, only to find that there was no lock on the door. Seriously people, you have people in their birthday suits in a tanning room, no one is manning the front door, so basically anyone can walk through the front door and directly into one of the unlocked rooms. I now uderstand why the montly cost of unlimited mystic tans at Darque is roughly the same as ONE tan at most other tanning salons (~$30). Here is how they save costs 1) don't clean rooms after each use and provide clean towels 2) employ one person - most salons have multiple people, so that there is always someone manning the desk 3) don't clean bathrooms 4) i'm guessing here..but quality of mystic tan doesn't seem to be as good as other places - can barely see my tan 5) only offer one level of mystic tanning - other places offer 3 levels 6) DON'T purchase locks for doors.
