Afternoon tea is only offered here on Mondays through Wednesdays, but it's worth skipping work or calling in sick to try it out because the delicacies are all creative and unusual.
This handsome Mission bakery is nothing. This handsome Mission bakery is nothing short of spectacular, with row after row of tempting sweet & savory financiers, gougeres, cakes, & eclairs. But what I cannot stop thinking about is the out of this world "sipping caramel" with a crispy croissant chip. They also do afternoon tea weekdays from 1-4pm.
I love everything here. The Rebel Within, savory muffin with a soft-cooked egg in the center, is a world-class baked good. The cube cakes are stunningly beautiful and complex works of art. Even the bread is extraordinary.
The Rebel Within--their muffin with a runny yolk in the center--will blow your mind. All of their other pastries are worth a taste too.
I'm not sure how acclaimed pastry chef. I'm not sure how acclaimed pastry chef William Werner gets a slow cooked egg inside a sausage and asiago muffin, but he's like a magician and the resulting dish is spectacular. There's limited seating, so go on a day when you know it won't be crowded.
