So doing it right. SOM offers everything I wanted in a bar/nightclub. I don't know why something like this hasn't been created. Anyways, it's the unique pairing of a great bar that's stocked with a ton different booze but at the same time it's an awesome nightclub with a ton of different music nights. I came by on a happy hour and got hipped to a couple of drinks I wouldn't even think twice of ordering (cool staff and a kick-ass happy hour..another plus) I decided to come back that weekend and it was hip-hop/soul/house/classics type of night and I loved it. Can't go wrong with good music but when the crowd (which was diverse) is super into having fun and not acting like snots it makes you feel happy to be out and not stuck at home.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Setting up shop in a venue with a long history of hosting all-night-into-early-morning techno fests (the building was last home to the legendary Pink), Som Bar has taken its party pedigree seriously, with nightly DJs spinning everything from hip hop to house and even knocking down some of the walls to make more room for the dancefloor. Other improvements include two large, almost luxurious bathrooms and a big caged-in patio for smokers--a nice touch on a street that can get dicey late at night. Behind the 49’ foot long walnut bar there's a huge collection of spirits and, brilliantly, four bartenders and a section of the bar dedicated strictly to shots and beers to keep things moving. Dark, stylish, and smart, Som's the spot for late night bandits looking to boogey til dawn, or almost.
