The Tiki Ti in Silver Lake has been family owned for 3 generations since 1961. Mike, the owner, pours behind the bar, while his sons tend bar or manage the door. Don't be fooled by the tropical drinks - they are STRONG, especially the Uga Booga and the Zombie. Also, you're allowed to smoke in the bar, which gives the Tiki Ti an old school Hollywood vibe.
Great tropical drinks and everybody is super nice. Ray's Mistake is the best drink, EVER.
A place that actually serves good. A place that actually serves good tasting drinks that will also get you a good buzz. Usually you have to pick one. Part of the fun here is standing room only one Friday and Saturday night, great for mingling.
Always crowded, always fun. Cherished. Always crowded, always fun. Cherished LA fruity, tropical drink hole. Fun place for a first date, IF you can get a seat.
If you want strong tropical drinks, this is your place. It's a little shack and gets very crowded at busy bar times, so try to avoid the rush and come early. Ray's Mistake is a classic to be tried, also watch out for the Stealth and the Ooga Booga and Blood And Sand. One or two cocktails is plenty here.
Tropics not. Hella fun, ya!. Previous guy had it right. It's a Shack, but a fun one! Fun night out with out-of-towners --- heck even in-of-towners. Right across the street from the Red Lion Tavern. Get your grub on, then your drink on.
Tiki Ti. Tiki Ti has been the right choice for the huamn beings like us.
Great little Place. It is fun when the entire bar starts screaming when certain drinks are ordered. The drinks can be a little pricey, but it is worth going there for 1 drink before going out elsewhere. Would reccomend to anyone to go for a drink and bring a date there between dinner and maybe the 4100.
absinthe?. I know this is supposed to be a review...but I heard a lot about this place and was wondering if they served absinthe in their mixed cocktais...can anyone let me know?
A Tropical Drink Lover's Paradise. Possibly some of the best mixed drinks you'll ever have.. Went to this place for the first time over the weekend and it was awesome. I've always liked good drinks that are STRONG and this place delivers. The place is small and has regulars galore, so get there early if you plan on getting a seat. It's standing room only as it gets later, and there's a line outside Fridays and Saturdays. (Not sure about other nights). The drinks are not cheap, but they are worth the price! For once. There is not any food, except a tub of bar 'snax', and they only accept cash. The crowd inside is socialable and fun. The decor is great and theres a lot of things to look at. The bartenders are friendly and have tons of stories to share. Oh yeah, and also the bar is owner-operated so smoking here is allowed. That will probably turn off a lot of non-smokers, but as an ex-smoker I wasn't bothered in the least. I miss this place already and am looking forward to going again.
Authentic. Excellent decor, excellent drinks, great atmosphere and you can smoke. It's a bit small so go early.
Fun LITTLE place in Silverlake. Want something different, try try Tiki Ti. It's a very, very small Tiki bar near the intersection of Hollywood and Sunset Blvd. They havea wild assortment of drinks (no food) and some drinks require the audio participation of he crowd. It's a little strange at first but once you get into it it's fun chanting "torro torro" as the bartender pours rum. People are allowed to smoke there which wasn't appealing to me but the atmosphere and the regular polite customers made up for it. Give it a shot.
A Small Bar of Tiki Bliss. It's not very big and it doesn't look like much from the outside but once you step inside, you are transported to a world of tiki. Be warned that since it is an owner operated business, they do allow people to smoke inside the bar but it's a small inconvenience to enjoy a strong mixed drink. The founder of this bar, Ray Buhen, was a "mixologist" from Hawaii that started this bar in the 60s. The area around it has changed and Ray is no longer with us but his son Mike and grandson Mike Jr. are the guys working the bar and they are doing Ray proud. The drinks to get are the Ray's Mistake and the Bayanihan. If you are up for a challenge, order the Blood-and-Sand and enjoy the Toro!
fun hawaiian atmosphere. This little tiki shack is the cutest bar I've been to. Though it's small space can't really allow you to move around too much (they only let in a strict capacity of 50 people at a time). This father-son duo can really crank up the drinks, and they're all given funky names too~ They really go all out with decorating the place... they have hawaiian/beach paraphenelia covering every inch of the place! And the friendly, family-like vibe you get in this place is truly unique!
torro torro. This bar is really fun. That's what it's all about - the bartenders are fun, the crowd is fun and the drinks are fun. Is a down and dirty fun time. I wouldn't come here if I were looking to feel "cool" or pick up, but if I'm trying to go out with the girls, get some strong drinks and laugh the night away - here's where I'll be.
The bar that's kept the tiki spirit alive on the Eastside for four decades..
This little shack is only big enough to fit a few tables, a bar and a dozen barstools. But what it lacks in physical space it makes up for in menu size. (Yes, we're talking about the legendary list of 90 tropical libations, like the Blood and Sand, Shark's Tooth and Skip & Go Naked.) Sure, you'll hate that fact if you get there too late you'll be doomed to wait for people to leave, especially since folks rarely want to go anywhere else. But with drinks this wild, a crowd so chill and a bar so crammed full of tiki tschotkes like shellacked blowfish lamps and fluorescent fountain with water dripping from a skull onto Buddha's head, it's a kitschy paradise.
Best tropical drinks anywhere including the islands!. I have been going to the Tiki Ti since 1971. Would have gone sooner but it was illegal! Three generations of bartenders and unlimited good times. This family owned business is held sacred in the hearts of many, many patrons. Mike and Mike Jr. are the best tropical drink Dr.s anywhere. The regulars are like extended family. Everyone is made to feel welcome. Wish I still lived just down the street. If you don't have a good time here, you need professional help! The space is small and gets packed on most nights. Go early, go late and wait, but just go!
TORO! TORO!. There's a drink for everyone here. It's small, the music varies (not the same predictable stuff), and yes the drinks are pricey. But totally worth every penny. Each drink is a work of art. If you haven't been, what the hell are you waiting for?
Strong tasty drinks + tiny hole in the wall + FUN. Ok, do NOT drive from Redondo beach for this place, it's essentially a fun neighborhood place about the size of two cars. Beware of the schedule, the place used to open when the owner felt like it. This is a perfect addition to a hollywood pub crawl; the 4100 room and Red star around the corner (walking distance if needed). Drinks are cash only, strong, and taste great so beware. Beware, the place is tiny - but a great kickoff or ending place for one drink.
An LA Institution. To the people who didnt like the place, I have a few words don't go back you take up space needed by the true patrons. Father and son team that mix the best drinks in LA. Dont be afraid to try different drinks, especially Blood N Sand(yes it's pricey but worth it), two of these will have you crawling if you can't handle your alcohol very well. Always an eclectic crowd(young and old alike), no attitudes like other bars in LA. Get there early, the line gets long and be ready to wait a while(not much space inside). If you can leave your LA attitude outside the door and know the true meaning of Aloha, you'll enjoy this place that much more. Never seen any fights break out, the bouncer/door checker is usually Mike's mom and wife, they get a lot of respect from the regulars. Enjoy.
Very Cool. although the size and some of the cheesy decorations may throw you off at first, you'll come to love it in the course of one night. Maybe it's the strong drinks, that are so tantalizing, but every 15 minutes you'll find yourself looking around and saying, "I like this place". And by the end of the night, you'll wish you didn't give up your seat and you'll want to plan to go back.
Best bar in L.A.. You can't beat the drinks, or the service, or the decor. Simply the best place to go hang out with friends. Just make sure you have a designated driver - some of the cocktails will knock you on your ass.
undeserved reputation. brought out-of-town friends here and ended up feeling embarrassed. drinks are ridiculously expensive and made with liquor you can get at 7-11. i might be wrong, but i get the sense that positive reviews for this place are being written by insiders. what's the deal here?
An Eastside Classic!. Ok, now this place is probobally smaller than your living room BUT...the atmosphere is amazing, the drinks are awesome, and the people are friendly! The drinks are a bit pricey, but NONE of them are your average drink. All are special, delicious and very well served. Definately one of my favorites!
